A Spokesman of the Agriculture Department disclosed here today that the Department was spending Rs. 264.19 lakh under Agriculture Mechanization Programme during the current financial year and added that an assistance of 25 percent or maximum Rs. 45,000 was being provided to the farmers for purchasing Tractors upto a capacity of 40 Horse Power. He said that 40 percent or Rs. 45,000 assistance was being provided for acquiring Power Tillers with a capacity of eight Horse Power or more and added that assistance upto 40 percent or maximum Rs. 25,000 was being provided for purchasing Power Tillers less than eight Horse Power capacity. He said that subsidy of 25 percent or maximum limit of Rs. 10,000 was being provided on other equipments.

He said that exhibitions were being put up to acquaint farmers about latest agricultural equipments. He said that one lakh agricultural implements were being distributed to farmers every year and added that 50,000 improved agricultural implements would be provided during Kharif 2012. He urged the farmers to contact the agriculture officers in their area to avail the benefits of various agricultural schemes.
