Shimla: To attract more tourists to the far-flung region of the state, Himachal Pradesh government can develop Ski Resort at Chanshal in Rohru in Shimla district besides developing meadows and pastures of Bashal Kanda (Sarahan) adjoining Shimla and Kinnaur districts. CM, in his official statement

“We will consider in near future to develop Ski Resort at Chanshal in Rohru in Shimla district besides developing meadows and pastures of Bashal Kanda (Sarahan) adjoining Shimla and Kinnaur districts, for which the department of Tourism has been asked to conduct a survey for constructing Ropeway”

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, while interacting with Russian Tass Agency, revealed that the department of Tourism has been asked to conduct a survey for constructing Ropeway in these places.

He informed the visitors about the huge scope for adventure and religious tourism in Chamba, Sirmaur, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti Buddhist circuit and other areas of the State and the Government, besides making Paragliding in Bir-Billing an annual sport event and also promoting water sports, heritage and religious tourism in a big way.

Virbhadra Singh also assured to refurbish the Roerich Art Gallery. He also apprised visitors about the heritage status given to the Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area (GHNPCA) and hoped to get the sanctuary areas in Spiti, which is a home to Snow-leopards, blue Sheeps, ibex etc., to the notice of the UNESCO authorities.
