Shimla: To end the week long logjam over the fee hike in the Himachal Pradesh University, Himachal Pradesh has constituted three members independent committee.

V.K Sharma, Retired Justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court will head the three member committee constituted for fee hike and other matters pertaining to H.P University, Shimla. The other members of the committee include Sarojini Ganju Thakur, Chairperson, H.P. Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission and A.R Chauhan, ex-Pro Vice Chancellor, Indus International University.

The committee will have to submit its report on the entire matter pertaining to fees hike and other related matters of H.P. University within one month.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, while talking to a delegation of NSUI H.P. University, which met him here today, assured to upkeep the interests of the student community. He said that no hike has been made in the tuition fee as well as hostel fee by the Government.

Chief Minister, however, cautioned student body to averse vitiating the academic atmosphere in the educational institutions and made clear to take stringent action against them.

The delegation apprised the Chief Minister that in certain cases fees has been hiked considerably and requested for reviewing it in the larger interests of the student community. They pleaded for maintaining law and order and restoring the academic atmosphere in educational institutions.

Virbhadra Singh assured the delegation that their request for not allowing the outsiders to enter the University and College campuses would be looked upon and concerned authorities would be directed to take appropriate action.

Chief Minister also held a meeting with Principal Secretary Education, Vice-Chancellor of H.P. University and Senior officers of Education Department and directed them to take appropriate measures for maintaining academic atmosphere in the educational institutions.
