The Himachal Pradesh Minority Finance and Development Corporation (HPMFDC) had been adjudged best for its excellent performance in disbursing loan and their collection in time by National Handicapped and Development Corporation.

Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister disclosing this here today said that Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment gave the prize at the National Conference organized in New Delhi, which includes a cash prize of Rs. 5.54 lakhs.

He said that H.P. Minority Finance and Development Corporation had disbursed loans amounting to Rs. 20 crore to the 1140 eligible handicapped persons of the State from year 2000 to till date so that they could start their self employment ventures.

He said that the loan of one lakh to Rs. five lakh were being given to handicapped persons at the interest rate of six percent while loan from Rs. five lakh to Rs. 15 lakh were being given at the rate of seven percent for their self employment.

He said that State Government had initiated various schemes for socio-economic upliftment of handicapped persons in the State. e Government had removed the condition of income limit for getting scholarship to handicapped students, he added.

C.S. Singh, Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh Minority Finance and Development Corporation, S.S. Chauhan, Manager and other senior officers of the Corporation were also present on the occasion.
