Bairagarh/Chamba: Nine people were killed and seven others injured when an ill-fated HRTC bus rolled 100 feet off the road at Bairagarh area of Chamba district today afternoon.

As per the report, eight people died on the spot, while another died at Tissa Hospital. Injured were rushed to nearby Tissa hospital and two of them were referred to Zonal Hospital Chamba.

The HRTC bus was on its way to Killar from Chamba town. The reason of accident is not known yet, and Transport Minister GS Bali revealed of constituting a Committee under the Chairmanship of Sub Divisional Magistrate, Tissa had been constituted to inquire the causes of the accident. The Committee is directed to submit its report within 15 days.

Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over bus accident. Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the affected families.

Transport Minister revealed that HRTC would bear the treatment expenses of all the injured persons. He directed the Corporation to provide immediate relief of Rs. 25,000 to the next of kin of the deceased.

The district administration has provided immediate relief of Rs. 10,000 each to the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs. 5,000 each to the seven injured.
