Government of issues notification that a Jatha of 3000 Sikh would visit Pakistan on the occasion of “Baisakhi”. Himachal Pradesh has been allotted a quota of 15 pilgrims and the applicants would be considered strictly on first come first served basis. The Jatha would visit various Historic Gurudawaras situated in Pakistan for 10 days, starting from 11th to 20th April, 2011. The last date announced for receiving the applications by the Government of India is 7th March, 2011.

The release states that selected pilgrims should strictly abide by the conditions laid by the Government of India on its behalf. According to the spokesman issuing the release the pilgrims will not be allowed to mingle with local people and anyone found indulging in prohibited acts will be blacklisted.
