The festival of Maha ShivRatri in Mandi is world famous and numerous Devi and Devta of surrounding areas participate in it. This year, over 215 devis and devtas will participate in the week-long Mahashivratri festival. President, Mahashivarari Mela Committee-cum-DC, Mandi Dr Amandeep Garg said that management is all geared up for the event and planned a budget of Rs 90 lakh for it. Management has planned for the wooden “Sihansan” for the devtas. Devis and Devtas will start reaching Mandi from 1st March.

Chief Minister Prof. P.K. Dhumal will be the chief guest at the first traditional procession, “Raj Madhav Jaleb”, on March 3, whereas Governor of the State will preside over the festival on its final day.

To make this event memorable, the management has signed notable Bollywood playback singer Kailash Kher, Javedi Ali, Punjabi singers Gurdas Mann and Sarabjit Channi. Kailash Kher will perform at 8th March. Apart from the show of noted playback singers, Paddal Maidan will feature the sale-cum-exhibition of art and craft from various states, wrestling competition, where players from the different places will vie for the prize and marathon meet. There will be competitions for children and dramas.
