NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) has geared up for action against individuals, organizations or NGOs making unauthorized use of the commission’s name and logo. Stating that the commission does not have a provision for registration or affiliation of individuals/NGOs/organizations, the NHRC has requested the state government to take action against the unauthorized use of its name and logo.

In a letter written to the State Government, Secretary General NHRC has stated that the logo and name of the NHRC has been listed in the Schedule of Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950, and any improper use as such is punishable under the act. DMs/SSPs have been directed by the NHRC to take action against individuals/NGOs/organizations misusing the name and logo of the commission.
