Principal Secretary, Tourism & Civil Aviation Manisha Nanda directed the Department to complete the works under Circuit & Destination Schemes within a stipulated period. She said that facility of rain water harvesting structures in the hotel has already made mandatory. Principal Secretary was presiding the review meeting of Centre and State sponsored schemes.
In the meeting Director, Tourism & Civil Aviation Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, said that large amount of funds were being spent in the State on public convenience. He said that in Shimla Municipal area, the Department had sanctioned funds to the Municipal Corporation but till-date work on public convenience had not been started. Tourism department has also released funds to the tune of Rs 50 lac to MC Shimla for construction of toilets at New Shimla, Victory Tunnel, Sanjauli & Vikas Nagar and for high-mast lights at Victory Tunnel, Lakkar Bazaar Bus Stand, New Shimla, Chhota Shimla, SDA Complex and Tuti Kandi Bye-Pass and for laser lights at Door Darshan Kendra, Chaura Maidan and at New Shimla but work on these was yet to start. He said that now the Department was asking the Municipal Corporation Shimla either to execute the work at the earliest or to return the money so that execution of these schemes could be handed over to some other agency.
