A renowned portrait of Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh made by celebrated artist Sobha Singh will be auctioned in the USA in March. The painting is listed for auction at New York-based auction house Sotheby’s on March 24. Sobha Singh Memorial Art Society in Kangra received a letter from Anuradha Ghosh-Mazumdar, assistant vice-president of Indian and Southeast Asian Art at Sotheby’s that the famous painting is going for auction. The current owner announced through e-mail on Feb 22 and is selling it through Sotheby’s. The painting is listed at a whooping $300,000-$400,000. It’s the oil-on-canvas portrait 39 by 29 inches in size.
