All the Doordarshan Kendras operating in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Punjab will introduce narrowcasting of their agricultural based programmes from 30th May, 2011.

Deputy Director General Doordarshan (North Zone) Delhi Deepa Chandra said while addressing the Station directors and other senior staff members of Doordarshan Kendra of Ahemdabad, Rajkot, Pune, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Shimla, on the occasion of Directors Meeting on Mass Media Support to Agriculture Extension and Narrowcasting.

She said that the narrowcasting of agriculture based programmes will pave the way for uniform time of telecast of variety of programmes in the different regions at the same time. She said that narrowcasting aims to benefit more and more farming community in a particular State by providing them the facility of agriculture programmes on different subjects at the same time of telecast. To ensure the smooth operation and functioning of narrowcasting, adequate staff and equipment will be provided to the Doordarshan Kendras.
