In the past decade Himachal Pradesh has experienced unprecedented development. Although, dilapidated roads are the problem; yet people of the state are living comfortable and prosper life. Himachal is pioneer in producing electricity and feeding around 9 Indian states including capital of India Delhi with it. In the past 7-8 years many big and small hydro electric generation plants are coming up, few have started production and other are about to contribute. It’s a great leap towards the prosperity and self reliance, but prosperity has its parameter and takes many invaluable things from us. Hydro power plants on Satluj river and its tributary are repeatedly raises environmentalists eyebrows and Streams in Kullu, Chamba and Kangra district are facing the same preposition. 15 MW project on Neugal river valley, that is a tributary of Beas river originating from the Dhauladhar hills’ facing the heat from the locals and environment action groups of Palampur. Locals are blaming it for the polluting river water and even urge State Government to order a probe into the serious damages.

They have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister. RK Sood, president, Palampur Welfare Forum, discuss the memorandum and said that this project did not deserve any concession from the state government as it had causes the horrendous destruction to the nature. Affected people have alleges that developers are using unscientific measure and that are causing great threat to the environment and people living near to it. They added that residents of Palampur are dependence on river water for drinking and irrigation. Construction activities are incessantly damaging and blocking the main water supply channels. Locals have also raised another water polluting concerns as waste from worker colonies near the project is flowing untreated into the Neogal river, contaminating the water. Residence have urges Government to look into the matter and hoping for the quick solution to it.
