A team of Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau Mandi today caught red handed Harbajan Singh Bagga Xen Township of Bhakra Beas Management Board Sundernagar from his office while accepting a bribe of Rs 10000/- from a contactor on the pretext to extend the permission of work.

According to S.P Vigilance, Mandi Virender Sharma confirmed that a team from State Vigilance and Anti corruption Unit of Police station Mandi lead by Inspector Madan Dhiman today caught the accused red handed from his office while accepting the bribe of Rs 10000. It was further told that the amount has been recovered from the accused. It was further confirmed that the accused has been arrested under the provisions of Prevention of Corruptions Act.

As per the report the complainant Naresh Kumar a contractor was allotted a work of Stadium of Punjab School Sundernagar worth 8,50 lakhs, which was to be completed by 28th March 2011. The complainant had applied for the extension of work but the accused stopped the work and demanded Rs 30000/- for extending the permission of work. The complainant reported the matter to Vigilance staff and asked the accused that he would give the money in installment for which the accused agreed. The vigilance team laid the trap and caught the accused from his office (XEN Township BBMB Sundernagar) today afternoon.
