Himachal Pradesh Apple Growers Association (HPAGA) will hold protest on June 6 against the government’s “indifferent and callous” attitude towards the problems of apple growers in the state. Convenor HPAGA Rakesh Singha and co-convenor Dr Onkar Shad said that the demonstrations will held at 20 places and the growers will sit on a dharna in front of offices of Block development Officers (BDOs) and will handover a memorandum to the chief minister. The demands of the association included payment of dues for the apple sold under Market Intervention scheme (MIS) last year, immediate payment of compensation to farmers whose crop had been damaged due to natural calamities like hail and storm.
