Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar said that Election Department is starting an intensive campaign to register the names of all eligible persons in the electoral rolls of the State who are not as yet registered as voters. This campaign will cover all those persons who have attained the age of 18 years on or before 1st January, 2011. The Department is also running a campaign to shoot or collect the photos of all those registered voters whose photographs are not available with the department or who have not been issued Photo Identity Cards.

Kumar said that this campaign will continue for the next three months and all the persons who are eligible as voters in the Pradesh but have not yet registered themselves may apply in Form-6 with 2 passport size photographs at the office of concerned District Election Officer/Electoral Registration Officer (SDMs/ADM, Bharmour and Una)/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars) or Booth level Officer. To delete the names of ineligible electors such as deceased or shifted, Form-7 may be used, to correct any error in details of the voter, Form-8 may be used and to shift the name from one polling station to another polling station within the same Assembly Constituency, Form -8A may be filed.

He said that electors who have not been issued with Voter Identity Cards/whose images are not appearing in the Photo Electoral Rolls may submit their photographs with Booth level Officers or visit the office of concerned Electoral Registration Officers (SDMs/ADM, Bharmour and Una) by July 30, 2011 so that their Voter Identity Cards could be prepared and their photos could be printed in the electoral rolls. He further added that the list of the BLOs, EROs etc. and their contact numbers is available at the official website of Election Department (http://ceohimachal.nic.in). He said that a request for enrolment as voter can also be made on phone through the toll free No. 1965 of the call centre of the department. He said that after registration of the request for enrolment as voter in the call centre, the concerned BLO/official of the Election Department will contact the person to collect the details for enrolment as a voter and issue of Photo Identity Card.
