Industries Minister Kishan Kapoor said that 2,59,480 identity cards has been issued to the workers of industries, hydel power projects etc., in the State and added that it has been made mandatory to issue Identity Cards to the workers.

Presiding over the meeting of State Minimum Wages Advisory Board, minister said that daily wages of the workers has been increased from Rs. 75 to Rs. 120 by the Government which raised their annual income to Rs. 16,425 and added that the increase was also enforced for workers of private sector in the State.

Kapoor said that two labour hostels at a cost of Rs. 23 crore are being constructed at Baddi for providing residential accommodation to the workers of the State. He said that Government is also considering to construct a committee to chalk out minimum daily wage on the basis of price index in Delhi and other States of the country etc.

Harinder Hira, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Labour and Employment, Mohan Chauhan, Commissioner, Labour and Employment, senior government officers and representatives of various industrial institutions and Trade Union were also present in the meeting.
