HRTC staff, who are working on contract basis, threaten to go on strike from August 23, if government does not consider their demands. Around 2800 people are working on contract basis and it comprises about 70 percent of total staff. For some remote area HRTC services is the only means of transportation and if they go on strike it can paralyses the area. Government is in a fix as HRTC is the biggest loss making company in the state with an accumulated loss of over Rs 550 crore and if they met the demands of agitated staff it can further burden the exchequer, therefore government needs to find the middle way.
