One lakh population of 180 villages of three assembly segments of district Bilaspur would be benefited with augmented drinking water supply through implementation of Rs. 65 crore drinking water supply scheme to be fed from Kol Dam waters to augment 41 existing drinking water supply schemes in the area where the work was in progress. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said it while addressing a public meeting at village Malyawar, in Ghumarwin Sub-Division of district Bilaspur, after he unveiled the statue of Vir Chakra Awardee Sukh Ram who hailed from the village and had shown exemplary courage while discharging his duty as a soldier during Indo-Pak War. He paid his floral tribute to the warrior and said that his sacrifice would not go waste since he had earned laurel for the country.

Chief Minister said that 209 hand pumps had been bored in Sadar area during past three years. He added that Rs. 53 lakh were also being spent on drinking water supply to the Malyawar gram panchayat. He said that Dhali drinking water supply scheme improvement was also being carried at a cost of Rs. 1.05 crore. He said that Kuhghat-Amarsinghpura via Balhchurani road would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.69 crore which would be completed by June next year. He said that Kuh-Galota via Gwalmuthani road was also being constructed at a cost of Rs. 88 lakh, Kothi to Baddu via Upper Kurnari road to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 88 lakh and Balh-Bhalwana to Ghughrad road to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 128 lakh under PMGSY and Ghagas Deoli road to be mettled at a cost of Rs. 17 lakh. He announced opening of PHC at Malyawar and sanctioned Rs. 2 lakh for Tihra Sarai. He said that road approaching Malyawar would be named after martyr Sukh Ram.

Chief Minister honoured Sheela Devi wife of Vir Chakra Awardee martyr Sukh Ram on the occasion. Suresh Chandel, former MP and Vice President, National Kisan Morcha, welcomed the Chief Minister to Sadar assembly segment and congratulated him for being the First CM to visit the panchayat. He said that Dhumal had given new dimensions to the development in the State. He said that 6000MW capacity of hydel power projects were under execution in the State. He complimented CM for bringing about Citizen Charter to deliver people time bound services. He detailed the developmental milestones established during past three and half year regime of Prof. Dhumal. Prem Singh Thakur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Malyawar, welcomed the Chief Minister to his panchayat and said that Prof. Dhumal happened to be the First Chief Minister for having visited the Panchayat after Independence. Dr. Rajiv Bindal, Health Minister, Roop Singh Thakur, Randheer Sharma, MLA, Baba Ranjit Singh, President, District Bilaspur BJP, Brahm Dass, President, Bilaspur BJP Sadar Mandal, Usha Thakur, President, District Mahila Morcha, Ritesh Chauhan, DC, Santosh Patial, SP, other senior officers and prominent people of the area were present on the occasion.
