Chief Minister said that Rs. 8cr were being spent on developing Mandi as tourist destination. Chief Minister said it in a public meeting after laying foundation stone of Tourist Reception Centre to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.37 crore at Sundernagar. He said that wayside amenities were being developed at 32 places in the State by spending Rs. 8 crore under a project. He said that possibilities would be explored to construct a Hotel of State Tourism Development Corporation near Tourist Reception Centre at Sundernagar to facilitate the tourists visiting Manali.

Chief Minister said that Parking facility at a cost of Rs. 50 lac, Tourist Information Centre at a cost of Rs. 27 lac, Wayside Amenities at cost of Rs. 20 lac, Waste Management at a cost of Rs. 20 lac and Park at a cost of Rs. 20 lac would be developed in the Tourist Reception Centre Complex along with other basic facilities. He said that Rs. 4.75 crore would be spent under Sundernagar Destination project. He said that Rs. 1 crore would be spent on beautification of Rewalsar Lake, Rs. 1.5 crore on Chauntra Latrooh and Rs. 50 lac each would be spent on beautification of Thalaut and Salappad. Chief Minister said that tourism activities would be boosted in the historical Mandi district and added that Janjehli and Karsog valleys would be developed from tourism point of view. He said that unexplored tourist destinations in the State would also be developed to attract maximum tourists to the State.
