Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that directions have been issued to all the concerned authorities to ensure that the statutory requirements are fulfilled by the health institutions being set up in the private sector. Principal Secretary (Health), Principal Secretary (Urban Development/Town and Country Planning), Director General (Home Guards), all Deputy Commissioners, Director (Urban Development/Town and Country Planning) and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Shimla, to ensure that health institutions located in specified localities were not posing any threat to the local residents and whether statutory permission under the relevant Act and the authority mandating the same had been obtained, all statutory clearances to check health hazards obtained from the competent authority; adequate fire fighting equipments installed at convenient locations to deal with any fire accidents effectively; proper disposal of bio-medical waste being carried in a scientifically safe manner. He said that regular disinfection of the patient wards, toilets and open area needed to be ensured. He directed the authorities to ensure that optimum utilization of the equipments provided to government health institutions and in case of any technical snag, the same was removed on priority.

Chief Minister said that the State Government had created quality health infrastructure to cater to the best health care requirements of the people, where best hygienic conditions were being ensured. He said that efforts had been made to provide specialized medical services to patients within the State and at district level hospitals so that they had not to travel to other States for any of such treatments. He said that the IGMC and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital, Tanda, had been equipped with the state of the art medical facilities to meet the requirements of the patients. He underlined the need to regularly monitor the functioning of the health institutions and also keep a watch over the private health centres to ensure that the services being delivered by them were upto the mandatory health standards. He assured the people of the State of the best of the health care facilities to them at their door steps.
