Shiva Keshavan gets a grand civic reception by citizens of Manali and staff of Mountaineering institute on his returning hometown after winning gold medal in Asia winter games held recently in Nagano, Japan. Shiva Keshavan has set a new Asian speed record at 134.3 kmph at the Asia Cup 2011, beating the previous record of 131.9 kmph by a considerable margin. His timing in the first run was 50.162 seconds, a mere 0.09 seconds behind the current track record, and 50.221 in the second, clocking a total of 1:40:383. in the final Shiva has defeated Japanese competitor Takahisa Oguchi, who was the previous Asia Cup winner, scored a total time of 1:40:861 seconds. It is not a first time when Shiva Keshvan has make India proud, he had previously set a record for being the fastest man in Asia at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.

Shiva thanked all people gathered and expressed happiness and proud for representing India. H.P state winter games association president Roop Chand Negi welcomed and said that Shiva has become the icon of the youth and emerged as a shinning star of Himachal and India by excelling all participants of Asian countries.
