Solang Valley, just 13 km uphill from Manali, is filled with skiers who wait for this time of the year with bated breath. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports is conducting skiing courses for both amateurs and professionals, which will conclude only when the blanket of snow melts. Private tour operators are making the most out of the situation and minting money by are renting out skiing apparatus as well as instructors to tourists. Apart from skiing, one can also enjoy sledging, snow scooter rides and snowboarding.
