The Himachal Pradesh High Court provided relief to candidates who have appeared in the HAS preliminary examination by allowing marks for correctly answered questions in the general studies and aptitude test that were otherwise scrapped.

Disposing of a bunch of petitions, a division bench consisting of Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary held that petitions would also be given marks for the questions as per original answer key, whose answers were in variance with the later revised answer key. However, the court made it clear that the exercise would be limited only to the petitioners, who approached the court and not to all the candidates who appeared for the competitive exam.
