The Himachal Pradesh CPIM has condemned the state government for not declaring ‘Good Friday’ as a holiday in the state. The BJP government has deliberately targeted the day for not declaring it a holiday and has exposed its anti – minority bias.

Tikender Singh Panwar, Member state secretariat said that India is basically a culturally divergent and fervent society that celebrates a large number of festivals. Further, there are a large number of schools that are being run by Christian missionaries since many decades and they have declared holiday in their respective institutions, hence it is a holiday on the part of educational institutions. The state government must ensure that there is no bias on religious leanings and does not promote festivals of particular religion. The party has asked the government to ensure that ‘Good Friday’ is declared a holiday for the future.
