It’s a bizarre world of politics in Himachal Pradesh. On the one hand Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal denies congress party workers to host a historic event in honor of Virbhadra Singh on the prestigious ridge maidan, and on the other hand Government introduces bill to amend Shimla Road Users and Pedestrians (Public safety and convenience) Act to permit vehicles on the Mall Road.

State Congress wished to host a historic event on the ridge maidan in honor of the Union Minister Virbhadra Singh who completes 50 years of his political career on May 5. To seek permission for the same, Congress workers including Sudhir Sharma and Nand Lal met the CM with a written note, which was turned down by Prof. Dhumal citing precedents. He said, ‘Virbhadra has no threat perception like some prominent leaders of the country, and thus the rules cannot be flexed for him.’

The mega event is now expected to take place at the ice skating rink Shimla.
