Governor Urmila Singh inaugurated the Annual Red Cross Mela-2012 organised by Himachal Pradesh Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section here today. Governor lauded the role of Red Cross Society which was rendering yeoman service towards the cause of suffering humanity. She stressed upon the need to expand the activities of Red Cross in rural areas of the State. She also appealed to the people to donate liberally to Red Cross Societies.

A colourful cultural programme was also presented by artists of Information and Public Relations Department. Earlier, Governor also visited the stalls put up by various departments, organizations and associations.

Nirta Akre, Honorary Secretary, H.P. Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section welcomed the Governor on behalf of Indian Red Cross Society and H.P. Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section on the occasion. Roopa Sharma, Member, H.P. Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section thanked to Governor.
