Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal claimed that State Government is strengthening vocational education structure in the State so as to ensure Vocal Education to the youth in the State to enable them get employment. He stated it in a public meeting at Paonta Sahib after laying foundation stone of Government Polytechnic College at Paonta Sahib, estimated to cost Rs. 12.5 crore.

Chief Minister said that 41,817 youth were undergoing skill up-gradation training in vocational educational institutions all over the State. Besides, Indian Institute of Technology had been set up in Mandi, National Institute of Fashion Technology at Cheb in Kangra, Engineering Colleges at Sundernagar and Pragati Nagar (Shimla) had been set up while a good network of Industrial Training Institutes had been created to cater to the vocational educational requirements of rural educated youth. He said that Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering trades would be started in newly opened Government Polytechnic, Paonta Sahib, while the complex had been targeted for completion before the next academic session. He said that vocational education was on priority agenda of the State Government and 19 percent of State budgetary provisions had been earmarked for education related activities.

Prof. Dhumal said that district Sirmour had taken a lead by getting first Eternal University, at Baru Sahib, in private sector, where Medical College would also be started from coming academic session to produce competent medical professionals. He said that State Government had raised 6th India Reserve Battalion at Kolar. He said 800 more posts of constables were being filled up which included 200 women constables as well. He said that district Sirmour had the privilege for having launched the ambitious Atal School Uniform Scheme from Nahan by Shri Nitin Gadkari, National BJP President and all schools in the district had achieved the uniform distribution target besides launching Atal Bijli Bachat Yojna from Paonta Sahib in year 2008. He detailed other developmental schemes of the State Government which included Atal Swasthya Sewa, Atal Awas Yojna, Subsidised Essential Commodities and Domestic Power and other schemes aimed at women empowerment. He said that the State Government had performed beyond the scope of Election Manifesto which was adopted as Policy Document of the State Government and all above and many more schemes were not part of the same. Earlier, Dr. Rajiv Bindal welcomed Chief Minister and thanked him for granting polytechnic college to the youth of the district. He said that 50 percent reservation given to women in panchayati raj institutions had yielded desired results to ensure women participation in local development planning. He also detailed other health schemes of the state government.

Virender Kashyap, MP Lok Sabha, also thanked Chief Minister for his one day visit to the district and said that the polytechnic college would help in channelizing the energy of local youth towards gainful skill developments. Many BJP leaders of the region were presents at the function.
