A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary in the hearing a writ petition filed against the university order to close all boys’ hostels, has directed the Himachal Pradesh University registrar to accommodate all 142 students who have applied for admission in the Shahid Bhagat Singh Boys Hostel. The Court has also directed the Inspector General of Police to depute required numbers of police personnel for the time being to manage the hostel.

The court ordered that only the registrar be permitted to enter the hostel other than the admitted students. Besides, police have been asked to allow only those who have been allotted hostel accommodation. No guests or visitors will be allowed to enter the premises.

The court also directed that only those students whose names are shown in FIRs shall not be permitted to enter the hostels for time being.

The court made it clear that in case further applications are received from students, who are taking examination or research scholars, the same shall be entertained by the registrar and be dealt according to terms of the June 21 order and the one passed on Friday (June 22).

The matter will be listed before the court on June 25 for further hearing.
