Leaders of the Himachal Lok Morcha (HLM) comprising the CPI, the CPM and the Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP) urged the Election Commission of India to impose the code of conduct in the state as the BJP government has been making announcements to woo voters ahead of the poll.

The HLM leaders constituted a coordination committee and alleged misuse of the official machinery for the Kansa Chowk rally by the ruling party. They held a protest march and submitted a charter of 41 demands to the government.

Inaugurating a district-level convention of the HLM at Mandi, state member of the party and state secretariat member Onkar Shad said the party had emerged as a political alternative to the ruling BJP and the Congress in the state.
