Rumor: Congress picks 40 faces for assembly polls

If we believe rumors, Congress high command has cleared 40 candidates for the assembly election. When contacted Congress leaders, many of them refused such development and said that right now, it will be too early to announce them as party observation team has not visited all constituencies and delimitation has also changed the political calculation as well.

Congress Gen. Sec. Rahul Gandhi has announced in his Kullu meeting with senior leaders that party would announce at least 45 candidates well before the time, so that these candidates could work well in time; remaining candidates, where party is facing in-fighting and difficulty to come to the consensus to name the candidate, will be announced anytime later on. It is, indeed, an indication that somewhere around 40, if not more, congress faces has been picked for the state assembly elections. Well, it remains contemplation for the time being, and the picture will be clear only when party will actually name the candidates. Stay tuned for more as we’ll keep you updated on the interesting drama.

Right now there are 23 congress legislators in Vidhan Sabha and because of delimitation, political calculation has changed in many constituencies. Constituency like Kotgarh, from where leader of opposition Vidya Stokes was elected in last assembly election is merged in two separate constituencies, and now sources are claiming that she is moving to her old fort Theog. Kasumpti, Rural Shimla, Baijnath, Chopal, Kullu, Manali, Hamirpur, Sujanpur, Chintpurni, Gagret and few other constituencies are giving problem to the political pandits and it will make difficult to the party high command to find the suitable candidate for these constituencies.
