The Himachal Pradesh CPM unit has strongly condemned the state BJP for ruining the education sector in the state. Deputy mayor Shimla and CPM senior leader Tikender Singh Panwar alleged that the party in power has shown the least concern for this important area and has thrown open this area for the profit maximization of private entrepreneurs. Party blamed that the BJP and its administration has not only ruined higher education it is also responsible for dilapidating it by appointing heads of important government institutions who do not qualify to run such posts

The CPM has alleged that the BJP is determined to cause irreparable destruction to this crucial education sector. Already the private universities are playing havoc with the state and the people. This has also been brought to the fore that black money of barons like Gopal Kanda’ and so on has been invested in these universities. This also draws us to the culture that these universities’ will have in the offing. There have been substantial proofs where fraudulent admissions have been made in these universities and still no action has been taken. Presently more than 70% of the seats are vacant in these universities which are waiting for the time period rider and will metamorphosis into hospitality or real estate industries as is being felt by a large number of concerned citizens of the state.

The CPM has further added that the opening of an unviable Himachal Technical university is another classic example of how the BJP looks at the education sector. It has brought the existence of the Himachal Pradesh University also into a complex situation. The HPU that used to get affiliation fees from number of affiliated colleges has been transferred to the HPTU. Further the HPTU is burdening the common students by charging them with development fees and deliberately burdening them. The effort of the BJP is to stifle the HPU and instead allow the university to get rid of its teaching departments and hand over this faculty to the private enterprises. It is this game plan of the BJP that needs to be nipped so that the crucial sector of education especially higher education is not made a domain of just private entrepreneurs. It is this plan that has to be exposed which the CPIM has decided to oppose and take it to the people.
