Congress student wing NSUI leveled serious charges against ruling BJP Govt. NSUI state unit alleged that the BJP government is hatching out a conspiracy to snatch the democratic rights of the student community, making Vice Chancellor HPU, a scapegoat. They are planning to ban the student body elections under the cover of violence at the campuses of education institution in Himachal Pradesh. While addressing the Press Conference in Media Centre, HPCC, at Rajiv Bhawan, Sandeep Kumar, Co-ordinator, HPCC, for all Universities and colleges SCA elections said that Chief Minister P. K. Dhumal is scared of results of SCA election, as he believes that his student wing will be badly defeated. He wants to make violence an issue and making V.C a scapegoat, taking reports under pressure as suited to the present BJP government. Law and Order is the responsibility of the State government. Even the troubled torn States like J&K have started giving permission to start the student wing of various political parties in their respective States. Election Commission of India can never hold the elections in the Country, if violence becomes and issue. The violence if at all in few cases at HPU campus is creation of ABVP and SFI, who kept on indulging in such activities in last so many years. NSUI always followed the path of peace and non violence and even today following the directions of Hon’ble High Court in this matter.

Sandeep alleged that the present BJP government is anti democracy and even within BJP the Father-Son-Duo tried to impose their decisions on the common BJP workers which resulted into the revolt by a major section loyal to BJP for years, thus forming the HLP. It is the charge on the Chief Minister that he does not want the new leadership to emerge from the student body elections, which may be come a potential threat to the senior leaders, when they demand the tickets in the ensuing Assembly Elections. His own son having no student’s politics background may find it difficult to compete with the young leaders of his own party with ABVP background.

Sandeep Kumar asked the state BJP President Satpal Singh Satti to clear his stand on the statement of Chief Minister about banning the student body elections. Congress Party and its student wing NSUI would resort to the agitation approach on Gandhian lines if the present attitude of the Chief Minister and BJP government continues. State President NSUI Yadopati Thakur and campus President HPU Ajay Chauhan were also present in the press conference.

While speaking at the press conference, Yadopati Thakur said that NSUI state wing is on right track for resurgence and this time it will perform fairly in the election. he also announced that NSUI will announce its candidates well in time so that they will get enough time to gel with the students.
