Theog MLA Rakesh Verma today announced to fight election from Chopal assembly segment. He with his supporters demanded BJP ticket from Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal from Chopal constituency. Along with more then 3000 supporters, Indu Verma met Chief Minister at his official residence Oakover. Chief Minister welcome the people from Chopal segment and said that he will apprise Verma’s candidature at party high command. Overwhelm with the response from Chopal segment supports, Rakesh Verma assured that this is his final announcement and urged them to work actively in the field. He said that he had started his political career as BJP candidate in 1993 from Theog constituency and had made history by winning over Congress stalwart. But later in 2003 he had to fight as an independent candidate (because of political implication) and now again need party backing to strengthen his candidature from Chopal. He assured the development of the region and promised his active participation for overall progress of the Chopal. While addressing the supporters he remarked about the slogan like outsider, which are gradually rising in the Chopal, he said that after delimitation his home segment is merged with the Chopal assembly segment and he has every right to fight election from Chopal. He dared his political opponent for debate over development and advised them to spare such regionalism issues. He said that in the present educated society issue like regionalism has no space.
