Public Works Minister Gulab Singh Thakur said that State Government is committed to provide road connectivity to all the villages of the State and sustainable efforts were afoot to achieve this objective. He said that the State Government was filling up all functional posts of the department on the priority basis for providing all the services of the department effectively to the people of the State.

Thakur said that three Executive Engineers had been promoted to Superintending Engineers and 24 Assistant Engineers to the post of Executive Engineers who had been appointed in various places of the State to accelerate the pace of development. This would not only help in completing the various projects within time but also avoid the cost escalation of projects.

Public Works Minister said that Rs. 2227 crore had been spent for construction of roads and bridges during last four and half years. He said that cross drainage facility had been provided in 6203 kilometers and 3690 kms. New roads were constructed. He said that 268 bridges had been constructed during this period. He said that road connectivity had been provided to 1081 villages during last four and half years.
