Vigilance held tehsil welfare officer for exploiting widow

In a shameful act, a tehsil welfare officer Rama Nand Bansal, Theog accused of exploiting a widow for releasing a house building grant for the Scheduled Caste (SC) category has been arrested by Vigilance team. He was allegedly exploiting a widow for approving her house building grant, yesterday.

The Vigilance Bureau had been keeping a watch on his activities as there were complaints of cash and sexual exploitation against him. KC Sadyal, Additional Director-General of Police, Law and Order and Vigilance confirmed it and said that the woman had applied for getting a house construction grant of Rs 48,500 and the revenue officer asked her to visit him at his house to get the money released. The official and the woman were arrested and a case registered against them under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Sadyal feared that there might be similar cases of exploitation of women by higher-ups or colleagues in offices and the Vigilance Bureau is keen to take action against such people.
