Raising questions over the decision of the Election Commission to ban use of carry bags bearing image of Atal Bihari Vajpayee for subsidised ration, the BJP demanded removal of all hoardings and photographs of the MNREGA, the Bharat Nirman and other centrally sponsored schemes.

State BJP spokesperson Ganesh Dutt in a complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner has pointed out that the commission must not adopt double standards by seeking removal of only hoardings and images of state government schemes and leaders.

Dutt said that the state government has removed all hoardings of various welfare schemes ever since the model code of conduct has come into force from October 3. He rued that many hoardings and photographs of the MNREGA, the Bharat Nirman and other centrally sponsored schemes are still handing is many places in state and he asked EC to remove them as well.
