For the 2012 Himachal assembly election, the CPM released its election manifesto, promising Rs 1,000 as unemployment allowance to the jobless youth and enhancement of daily wage to Rs 300.

While releasing the manifesto, CPM leaders Onkar Shaad, Tikender Panwar and Kuldeep Tanwar, Shimla MC Mayor Sanjay Chauhan were present. While addressing the media persons, CPM leaders claimed to offer viable third alternative, along with the Himachal Lokhit Party. CPM is contesting on 15 seats in Himachal assembly poll.

In its manifesto, CPM promised to make state self reliant and will encourage agriculture, horticulture based industries in state, if voted into power.
