Himachal Pradesh High Court today directed the Solan district administration to enquire into the allegation that the BJP candidate Sheela had submitted a fraudulently obtained schedule caste certificate to contest from the assembly constituency.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice D C Chaudhary directed the Deputy Commissioner to file a reply by November 20.

Petitioner Joginder Kumar of village Basha in Solan had alleged that Sheela has obtained the SC certificate by tampering with revenue records and maintained that she belongs to Bohra Khatri caste and it was fraudulently changed to Koli after 1975.

The petitioner said that the entire record prior to 1975 shows that caste of father of respondent is Khatri Bohra and alleged that Sheela had contested the election of Zila parishad and become chairman of the Zila Parishad Solan on the basis of forged certificate. The petitioner sought a direction from the court for registration of a case against her.

The HC has issued notice to Secretary Revenue, DC and Tehsildar Solan and directed them to file reply after conducting enquiry.
