HPCC chief Virbhadra Singh begins Congress campaign for the Nov 4 assembly poll from Chamba district and while addressing a public meeting at Chamba town and announced to provide ‘fair and lawful’ government in the state soon after it is voted to power in the Assembly elections.

Virbhadra urged the masses to overthrow the corrupt BJP government in the interest of the welfare of the state. He also announced that the Congress government would implement the Punjab pay scales to the Himachal Pradesh employees. He cautioned the employers that the Dhumal government was misusing the employees for its political purposes.

Congress candidate from the Chamba constituency Pawan Nayyar also spoke on the occasion and appealed to the public to vote for the Congress. Earlier, Virbhadra Singh launched the election campaign from the Bharmour tribal township and arrived at Chamba after covering the Pangi tribal area.

Congress candidates Asha Kumari from the Dalhousie constituency, Kuldip Pathania from Bhattiyat and Surinder Bhardwaj from the Churah constituency of the district were present at the public meeting.

Congress has named its candidates for the poll and under the leadership of Virbhadra Singh, Congress has started its campaign to wrest the power from ruling BJP. Though it is facing dissidents at dozen of seats, but seems comfortable with the ticket distribution and infighting among the top leaders are also looking mitigated and could be a deciding factor in the election.
