Factionalism in Himachal Congress once again came to fore when HPCC President Virbhadra Singh accused Kaul Singh Thakur of running paid news against him on the land issue on a national news channel. Virbhdra Singh had alleged that Neeraj Thakur, a journalist who came up with the story, was Kaul Singh Thakur’s nephew.

However, Kaul Singh has rejected the claim. He claimed that Neeraj Thakur was not related to him. Kaul Singh has also expressed disappointment over Virbhadra’s statement and termed it a move to tarnish his image.

Couple of days back, a noted national news channel had shown a detailed programme, which had created a flutter in Himachal Politics. It was totally based on Sood Commission, which was constituted to uncover the truth about the Benami land deals and political and bureaucrats involvement in the shoddy deals, and enabled outsiders to own land in hill state. In the news programme, Congress leader was accused to soften law for outsiders. However, in this programme channel haven’t mentioned the other deals, but stress only on Singh’s detail.

Aftermath, Virbhadra Singh accused media and BJP leaders including Prem Kumar Dhumal and his son to tarnish his image and now today he has leveled allegation against his once close confident. Congress stalwart Virbhadra Singh has also denied the allegation that he violated land laws and demanded high level probe into it.
