A maverick politician and Shiv Sena Chief Bala Saheb Bal Thackeray died today after having been critically ill for the past few days. The 86-year-old cartoonist turned politician breathed his last at 3.30 PM at his residence ‘Matoshree’ in suburban Bandra.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has expressed grief over the sad demise of Shiv Sena Chief Bala Saheb Bal Thackeray. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that Bal Thackeray was a leader of stature. He commanded a good respect amongst all sections of the society. He said that Shiv Sena Political party was his brainchild which has come up one of the main political party in the Indian polity over the years under his leadership. Shiv Sena Himachal spokesperson Brij Lal also expressed grief over the sad demise of Bal Thackeray. He said that Bala Saheb will be remembered for his patriotism and strong leadership.
