Himachal apple harvest down 20 percent

The apple season in Himachal Pradesh has almost come to an end. The total production of the crop was around 20 percent less than the normal of 2.50 crore boxes of 20 kg each.

Horticulture Director Gurdev Singh said the production was higher than last year’s 1.4 crore boxes.

Agro commodities trading house Adani Agrifresh has procured 16,300 tonnes of apples in the state this season. However this was less then the desired 22,000 tonnes, but much above then the 6,000 tonnes, which was procured last year.

The News Himachal seeks to cover the entire demographic of the state, going from grass root panchayati level institutions to top echelons of the state. Our website hopes to be a source not just for news, but also a resource and a gateway for happenings in Himachal.
