Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur called on Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad at New Delhi today. In the meeting, Thakur raised various issues of State’s interest with Union Minister who agreed to consider the various demands sympathetically.

Health Minister requested to sanction an ANM School at Kullu and a Centre of Excellence for Nursing at Dr. Rajender Prasad Medical College, Kangra at Tanda. He requested the Union Health Minister for setting up of a L-1 Trauma Care Centre at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla and to release installment of Government of India for upgradation IGMC.

Kaul Singh Thakur urged the Central Health Minister to grant essentiality certificate to ESI Medical College, Mandi as per relaxed provisions so that this Medical College could start at Mandi by attaching it to the existed State Government 300 bedded Hospital at Mandi. He requested the Union Health Minister to grant permission for running the Menstrual Hygiene Programme in all districts of the State. He requested to revise the sharing pattern between Government of India and the State Government to the ratio of 90-10 percent for recurring expenses on the running of 108 services, the State will have to bear 80 percent of the cost from 2013-14.

Minister requested the Union Minister to shift the dates for universal immunization programme which is currently fixed during the month of February as many areas of the State are snowbound or experience logistic problems during this month. He also requested to designate Medical College, Tanda as an authorised centre to train Medical Officers in EmOC and requested the Union Government for providing support for critical care of BPL families under the Health Insurance Programme being run under the name RSBY. He requested to raise Cost Ceiling for civil works 30 percent higher than the rest of country in Hill States like Himachal Pradesh.
