The Congress nominated Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as the officiating president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee in place of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh whose resignation from the post was accepted by party chief Sonia Gandhi. Singh was appointed State party chief ahead of the assembly elections and he successfully brought party back into power in state. Sukhu will hold the charge till a permanent president is appointed.
