All India police meet at Dharamshala

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced one next promotion to the bronze medal winners of the State Police in Handball competition held during the 61st All India Police Sports Meet organised at Dharamshala. He also announced Rs. 50 lakh for up-gradation of Dharamshala Police stadium. Chief Minister was speaking on the concluding function of 61st All India Police Sports Meet at Dharamshala today.

Virbhadra Singh said that the State Government had proposed to double the cash prize to the outstanding players whereas award money under Parshuram Award Scheme had also been enhanced from 50,000 to Rs. one lakh. He said that Government would provide more facilities to the sportspersons of the State Police besides increasing their promotional avenues.

Chief Minister said that it was matter of pride that despite their busy schedule, police personnel were excelling in sports at national and international levels. He said that Himachali players had also earned laurels to the State and country by winning medals in the Olympics. He congratulated shooter Vijay Kumar and his family members for his outstanding performance in Olympics games. He said that State Government recently honoured Arjun awardee Smt. Suman Rawat and international Kabaddi player Ms. Priyanka Negi.

He distributed the prizes to the winners. Surender of Central Industrial Security Force was given the award of Best Player.

Earlier, Director General of Police B. Kamal Kumar while welcoming the Chief Minister said that it was for the second time that All India Police Sports Meet was organised at Dharamshala.

Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, Dhaneshwar Sharma presented the sports report. He said that so far 82 Police personnel of the country had been awarded with Arjun Award while two police personnel had won award in Olympic Games.

Inspector General, Northern Range Rakesh Aggarwal presented the vote of thanks.

Transport Minister G.S. Bali, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma, MLAs Jagjivan Paul, Ajay Mahajan, Sanjay Rattan, Pawan Kajal and Yadvinder Goma, Vice Chairman, HRTC Kewal Singh Pathania, former MP Chander Kumar, Director General of Home Guards I.D. Bhandari, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra C. Palrasu and other senior officers of the Police were present on the occasion.
