B.C. Badhaliya, Director, Food and Civil Supplies Department said here today that new Ration Cards for APL families of all 25 wards of Municipal Corporation (MC), Shimla and Jatog Cantt., area would now be issued by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. He said that new ration cards would be prepared from 1st April, 2013 to 31st May, 2013.

He said that the validity of Ration Cards already in use would be upto 31st May, 2013. The ration on new cards would be issued from 1st June, 2013. He said that work of issuing new ration cards at Panchayat level would continue as usual.

Badhaliya said that proforma and other directions for making new ration cards were available with the Fair Price Shops where consumers were already registered. He said that consumers had to deposit this proforma alongwith their old ration cards in original adding that the new ration card would be issued to the consumers within 15 days of submitting the proforma after paying fee of Rs. five only.

The Director said that consumers had to submit a xerox copy of AADHAR number along-with application proforma besides mentioning AADHAR numbers of other family members. He said that consumers who had not received AADHAR numbers till now should enclose xerox copies of AADHAR number registration slips. He said that consumers working in Government sector should get their proforma attested from respective Heads of Departments while others should get their proforma attested by concerned councillors besides mentioning their LPG gas connection number in the application proforma.

Badhaliya said that renewal of 35463 ration cards of APL category of Shimla city had to be done. He said that survey for selecting the consumers under Below Poverty Line (BPL), BPL (TPDS) and Antodaya Anna Yojna would be completed by April, 2014 and their ration cards would be renewed after that.

He said that inspectors had been appointed for undertaking the task of making new ration cards in all wards of Municipal Corporation, Shimla.
