Dr. VK Dhadwal, Director, National Remote Sensing Centre, Hydrabad, in a meeting with Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests, HP and senior officers of the Forest Department, discusses the use of remote sensing and GIS technology in forest management in the State.

Himachal Pradesh Forest Department in the recent past has made significant stride in the field of information and communication technology and has already established a GIS Cell & IT Cell. The department has also developed ICT vision as well as a roll out plan. With the efforts of the GIS Cell, today whole of the Forests in the State have been brought under spatial platform which will enable development and use of various web and mobile based applications.

R K Gupta, Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests, Himachal Pradesh said that the forest department was willing to use the expertise of National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad in the field of fire alert system, working plans, Invasive alien species, capacity building and monitoring & evaluation in the State.
