SFI, ABVP involves in bloody clash in HPU Campus, SCA dissolved

The battle for political supremacy between SFI and ABVP in Himachal Pradesh University has resulted in six students getting critically injured and 12 receiving major injuries. The clash broke out in the morning, in which student hooligans used swords, hammers, sickles, iron rods and stones freely to harm each other.

The police had to call additional force to curtail the situation. To avoid further bloody clash, police personnel have been deployed at all boys’ hostels.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) ADN Bajpai called for emergency meeting and decided to dissolve the Students Central Association and SCA room was sealed and other facilities provided to the SCA were withdrawn. In the meeting it was decided that nobody would be allowed to vitiate the academic atmosphere in the campus.

To inquire into the incident, a high-powered inquiry committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Dean for Studies with the Registrar, the Dean for Student Welfare, the Chief Warden and the Secretary to the VC as its members. The committee will have to submit its report in three days.

The main library, including the reading room, will be closed after 5 pm till the situation normalises. University authority is a favor to punish all those involved in this bloody clash and even authority mulling to take harsh action against them.

SFI supporters blamed ABVP and VC for it and accused ABVP supporters for carrying arms in University campus and hostels well.

Note: HPU authority has decided to give another chance to students who could not appear in the entrance examination today due to the clash. New dates will be announced soon.
