Terming the victory of Congress in Karnataka Assembly elections as historic one, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that it was possible due to efforts and farsighted leadership of Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson and Rahul Gandhi, Vice President of Congress Party. He said that this victory reflects the faith of the people in the Congress and its good governance which would further pave the way for win of Congress in ensuing Lok Sabha elections in the country.

While talking to the press at Shimla, Singh said that the way people of Karnataka have voted in favour of Congress clearly indicates that they have rejected the BJP and their ideology. He said that the charisma of Narender Modi, who was being projected by BJP as Prime Ministerial candidate had fallen flat on the ground and the landslide verdict given by the people signifies that the people of the country were ready to root out the BJP due to its misrule in coming Lok Sabha elections.

Chief Minister said that he was of the view that the Congress Party would stand triumphant in Lok Sabha elections and would form the Government for the third time consecutively. He opined that the Mandi Parliamentary by-elections would also be in favour of Congress. He said that during the four months rule of Congress in the State, many historic decisions had been taken for welfare of the people of the State and schemes implemented for overall development. He said that his priority was to carry out uniform development in the State.

State BJP accepted their defeat and said that party was punished for being honest. Party spokesperson Ganesh Dutt said that BJP has sent out a strong message that it will not accept any indiscipline within the party.
