Health and Family Welfare Department revealed that a special polio campaign for children of migrated labourers in high risk areas of all the districts except Lahaul-Spiti district was being organised from 16th June to 18th June, 2013. Spokesperson of the department said that polio drops would be administered to the children of migrated labourers working in hydro electric projects kilns etc. under this campaign.

He said that Markand and Ghumarwin blocks in district Bilaspur, Pulkari, Bharmour, Tisa, Churi and Samot blocks of Chamba district, Tauni Devi, Nadaun and Badsar blocks of Hamirpur district, Gangth, Indora, Fatehpur, Shahpur, Dharamshala (Urban) and Palampur blocks of district Kangra, Nichar and Kalpa blocks of district Kinnaur, Naggar, Jari and Nirmand blocks of district Kullu, Ratti, Mandi (Urban) and Rohanda blocks of district Mandi, Shimla (Urban), Mashobra, Chopal and Nankhari blocks of district Shimla, Poanta and Dhagra blocks of district Sirmaur, Dharampur, Nalagarh, Chandi, Arki and Solan (Urban) blocks of district Solan and Haroli, Gagret and Amb blocks of district Una had been identified as high risk areas in the State.

Health and Family Welfare Department has appealed the people of the State to cooperate the Health teams for success of this campaign to make the State polio free.
